Joe specializes in workplace politics. He is a workplace politics strategist, leads workplace politics seminars and is an executive coach. Joe also teaches about workplace politics at the University of Washington.
Joe also has over 25 years of experience in international business as an entrepreneur and CEO.
In 1987 Joe co-founded ExOfficio, Inc. with Rick Hemmerling and together they built the ExOfficio brand name of outdoor and adventure travel apparel. As the CEO of ExOfficio Joe was responsible for the company’s overall brand direction, legal affairs, finance, international distribution and long term strategic planning. Along with ExOfficio’s brand development, one of the accomplishments Joe is most proud of is the culture of respect he and Mr. Hemmerling nurtured at their company. Joe retired from ExOfficio in March of 2002.
Since 2004, Joe has taught about workplace politics at the University of Washington under the auspices of the Department of Psychology. Joe created this course and has written the primary reading material associated with the class.
Joe holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Washington and serves on the advisory boards for Seattle Pacific University's School of Family, Consumer Sciences and Seattle Urban Academy and for many years has been involved with Medical Teams International.
